If you can't believe that the 2021 vintage could give beautiful wines in Beaujolais, then you need to taste this wine. This is astonishingly fragrant, graceful and refined, soaring over your palate like an eagle high in the mountains. Then the tannins and stony minerality builds at the long very-precise finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py Cuvée Passerelle 577 comes from part of a single parcel that is micro-vinified. It is very well-defined with redcurrant, crushed stone and light floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a sappy entry. Lovely with a keen line of acidity, yet strict in style. This has a little more depth on the finish than the regular cuvée. It is really quite excellent.
The 2021 Morgon Côte du Py Cuvée Passerelle 577 is crafted from a section of the lieu-dit known for yielding smaller berries, although hard to come by with just 1,400 bottles. Its moniker of "577" holds personal significance as Mee's lucky number. On the nose, the wine reveals an enchanting array of aromas, including black tea leaves, lilacs, sage, mandarin zest and berry coulis. Medium to full-bodied, it exhibits masterful balance, with vibrant acidity alongside a velvety core of fruit, tailing with delicate notes of a wet-stone salinity. The tannins are powdery yet appropriately structuring, providing a compelling texture that elevates the long, perfumed finish. This is suave in its youth, though it will further reward further time spent in the bottle.
