Tasted blind. Vanillin oak notes and crushed violets on the intense nose, a savoury meaty note beneath that also. Cassis and cocoa nib are followed by an oak char and wrapped in a cloak of dense, firm, layered tannins. Very intense and not quite together at this moment.
Good sense of freshness and intensity with fine tannins and rather high alcohol. Good impact however, and a long finish. Tannins are very fine, and although it doesn't have the potential complexity of some in this vintage, it has the stature and concentration you would expect.
