Château Latour à Pomerol is known for producing generous, concentrated wines that strike a perfect balance between elegance and power.
The vineyard is characterised by the diversity of its soils, which brings complexity and harmony to the wine: gravel and clay for a marvellous parcel next to the church of Pomerol; loam surrounding the château.
The mulled plum and blackberry fruit has a fleshy texture, picking up tobacco, savory and cedar notes along the way. A warm earth accent fills in on the finish, with the fruit keeping pace. A broad-shouldered wine. 93-96
The 2018 Latour à Pomerol (100% Merlot) is deep garnet-purple colored and offers up beautiful floral notions of lavender and rose hips with a core of black cherries, warm plums and mulberries plus wafts of underbrush, bay leaves and mossy bark. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a muscular core of densely packed black fruits with bright, herbal sparks and framed by firm, grainy tannins, finishing earthy. 93-95
Beautiful blackberry and blueberry aromas with hints of spices and wild mushrooms. Full-bodied with tight, firm and silky tannins. Try after 2024.
Deeply colored, the 2018 Château Latour A Pomerol is made from 100% Merlot from a tiny parcel of deep gravel and clay soils. This rich, nicely structured Pomerol has loads of cassis and black cherry fruits, subtle spice box and graphite, medium to full body, and building tannins that kick in on the finish. It has the vintage’s upfront sex appeal, some background oak, and loads to love. 92-94
Medium/full-bodied, firm, yet elegant, this silky textured display of flowers, plums, truffles and cocoa is fresh, focused, earthy and concentrated. This will age and evolve quite well.
This powerful, structured wine is packed with the ripest Merlot, with magnificent tannins and dark-plum flavors. Freshness shines through all this density, giving the wine considerable aging potential. Drink this rich wine from 2026.
