This is a good maturing St Julien, and very enjoyable, if a little austere. I mirror the tasting notes of Decanting Queen in it's taste profile, with blackcurrant and tobacco, but as it warmed in the glass, hints of strawberry and mint appeared. It is not typical of 1988 in general, and is quite robust. The balance is impeccable.
