Warm, forward and floral. Black fruits, liquorice, dark chocolate. Lovely smooth and silky texture - supple and friendly. I like the depth and concentration but also the real minerality you get: salty wet stones, liquorice, pencil lead and graphite touches. Puts the terroir in the glass with a slow expansion of the dark fruit elements. Great acidity, lots of vibrancy but it’s the metallic tang that sticks out more than anything with some herbal nuances. You get hints of sweetness, fresh mint and herbaceousness; lots going on here. Still quite a savoury style, a direct focus, some sleek tension in the middle, a dark savoury core. The spice from the Cabernet comes through, direct, but lovely detail and precision.

The 2020 No. 3 d'Angélus is a gorgeous wine. Plush, sensual and deep, the No. 3 conveys all the radiance and intensity of the year in its super-ripe fruit profile and rich, heady personality. The No.3 will delight readers upon release. Aging is in 30% new oak and 70% stainless steel.

A bright, fruity red with plum, light chocolate and cedar. It’s medium-bodied with round, creamy tannins. Delicious.
