Fabrice Gripa continues to refine his wines’ style, and the quality has never been higher than what I tasted from 2020, with 2019 and 2018 close behind. Whole-cluster use hovers in the 25% to one-third range, and new oak is at about 20%-25%, and I rarely find it to be intrusive, even when the wines are young. All the wines age well, and the newest bottling, Parady, really demands cellaring.
Glass-staining ruby. Suave, mineral-accented aromas of cherry liqueur, cassis and exotic spices are complemented by building floral and mineral notes. Sappy and energetic on the palate, showing powerful thrust to its concentrated red and blue fruit preserve, violet pastille and spicecake flavors. Finishes extremely long, spicy and smooth, with resonating florality and subtly chewy, well-knit tannins. One-third whole clusters.
